RWL 2021 preview!

At this month’s Wellbeing Wednesday we were joined by two of our Rail Wellbeing Live guest speakers for EXCLUSIVE teaser sessions.

Our host, Nadine Rae, was joined by award-winning stand-up comedian, mental health campaigner and CEO Jake Mills and happiness guru, Danny Bent.

Our first guest, Jake, discussed his personal journey, the stigma around mental health and his work with the rail industry. Next up, we heard from Danny, adventurer & happiness guru, who shared tips on how to bring more positivity into your life and how a shift in mindset can improve your mental health.

To suicide and beyond

It was Christmas 2008, and Chris Parker planned to end his life - but circumstances changes and Chris ended up walking away. That situation changed his life forever. It took several years to appreciate what happened. Fast forward a few years, and Chris joined Network Rail's Train Planning department. He observed Network Rail’s culture and attitude towards mental health at that time. He knew there was room for improvement.

Understanding post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Neil Greenberg explains what PTSD is and how rail organisations can minimise its risk. He also interviews Michael Setchell, a former train driver, who experienced traumatic events at work, resulting in a PTSD diagnosis.
